11+ South West England

The following counties in the south west of england all have grammar schools which are academically selective for entry into Year 7. The schools require children to sit an entrance assessment which may be referred to as the 11 plus (11+).

Devon

In Devon children will have exams in different subjects depending on which school they apply to. The exam boards used in Devon are GL Assessment and Future Stories Community enterprise (FSCE). You can find out more about these exam boards on our help page What exam boards are used for the 11+?.

  • Devonport High School for Girls
  • Plymouth High School for Girls
  • Churston Ferrers Grammar School (mixed)

  • The Spires College (girls)

Dorset

There are four grammar schools in Dorset that share the same entrance exam. This means children only have to sit the tests once irrespective of how many schools they are applying to.

  • Bournemouth School (boys)
  • Bournemouth School for Girls
  • Parkstone Grammar School (girls)
  • Poole Grammar School (boys)

Gloucestershire

In Gloucestershire all seven grammar schools use the same entrance exam. This means children only have to sit the tests once irrespective of how many schools they are applying to.

Wiltshire

In Wiltshire there are two grammar schools, one girls school and one boys school. Although both schools use GL Assessment as their exam provider the content of the two exams is slightly differentt.
